The Surprise Cake !

I love birthdays and I love cake !

With two of my friends birthdays round the corner it was time for a new cake. I toyed with the idea of a Champagne Triple Berry for a while and then remembered that this was for boys!

On to more manly flavors then – I had no idea what these were meant to be ! A little subtle probing left me with “surprise us” and “we love treats”. After a lot of thought my interpretation translated into a 6 layer Baileys Chocolate Truffle cake with hidden layers of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Snickers bars and the infamous Lindt Lindors (in 3 glorious flavors).

Please note that as this was my first go at a 6 layer there were a whole bunch of construction tips to be learnt along the way. Right from how Snickers bars make for excellent foundations to how the sticky nature of Nutella ensures your treats don’t roll out of your cake while you’re still making it . Then of course there is the beauty of how a thick truffle can plaster everything together to make it look seamless 🙂

Surprise!!
Surprise!!

And there we have it, my “Surprise!!” Cake. Happy birthday boys! 🙂
